A Kona man has been charged with meth trafficking and other offenses after being found with illegal substances on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona, police said.

On Friday, vice officers served a search warrant on the person of 54-year-old James Busche of Kailua-Kona and the items he was carrying. They seized 92.7 grams of a crystalline substance, 7.8 grams of a dried green leafy substance, paraphernalia associated with methamphetamine use and $632.

Busche was taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives continued the investigation.

At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Busche was charged with meth trafficking, marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $261,000.

His initial court appearance was set for today.
